Unissued Italian Jeep Cap
Introduced in 1941, the "Jeep Cap" was meant to be worn underneath steel helmets, providing ample warmth and some padding for troops in cold conditions. Despite its initially limited use case, the hat became quite popular for its laid-back look and comfort. Allegedly, soldiers were reprimanded for wearing the caps on their own; officially phased out by mid-war, their use continued until the end of the conflict.Ā
These Italian caps are quite similar to the U.S versions down to the six-stitch top, albeit with a lower-angled brim.Ā
