Unissued Self Defense Militia of Vietnam Field Pants

An authentic uniform issued to members of Vietnam's Dân quân tự vệ Việt Nam,  these pants are a tangible piece of the nation's grassroots struggle for independence and territorial integrity.  

Coming in two separate cuts:

Trouser: features two waist pockets, one rear pocket, and a straight cut.

Cargo: features two cargo pockets, velcro waist adjustment, and a single rear pocket. 

About the Dân quân tự vệ Việt Nam:

Established by the then "Indochinese Communist Party in 1935, the force has played a critical role in the defense of Vietnam for nearly one hundred years. Comprised of conscripts and volunteers, it is overseen by the General Staff of the VPA. The modern-day organization is separated into two major parts: the militia, under the command of local military and government bodies, and the "tự vệ" units, which are organized by party-aligned bodies such as state-owned factories. 

A newly created maritime element of these forces represents an interesting evolution of this structure. Created to help challenge Chinese "fishing" incursions into Vietnam's territorial waters. Provincially organized units have been officially applied in the South China Sea since 2021.
