Challenges dealing with the thin air and cold temperatures at high altitude required the adoption of extreme cold-weather garments. The two pants on offer display the evolution of gear used. The A-8 trousers from Eddie Bauer use down feathers. The later A-9 pants are a lighter and arguably more durable design thanks to the use of Alpaca pile liner, reflecting the direction U.S cold weather gear would take post-war.Ā
